Commodore

This Commodore was an overhead cam design engine with dry sump lubrication. This feature enabled the engine to run in rough seaways without affecting the engine lubrication.

Mk II Commodore built from 1936 to 1951, engine numbers ran from 85C00 to 94C7.
Mk II Commodore is a six cylinder side valve unit in petrol or TVO form. An impressive and tidy piece of machinery with no exposed rotating ancillaries.

Mk III Commodore built from 1951 to 1957. It is an overhead valve straight six also available in petrol and TVO form. Engine numbering 3C101 to 3C188. So not many of these were built having been replaced by early diesel competition which Morris followed with their 3.4 and 3.8 litre 4 cylinder diesel versions. that remained in production up to 1972 in 3.8 litre form.
